As I was reading this story, if you will, I felt identified even when I grow up in DR and came to the country when I was 17 year-old. It also reminded me of the book by Esmeralda Santiago “When I was Puerto Rican” also the spiritual autobiography “The Measure of a Man” by Sidney Poitier. Both of these books are about the struggles and contradictions that one faces while chasing the American dream, and finding oneself. It is hard work and one must stay committed to one’s own values, which most of the time are clearly defined by age 70 and then what? Most of the time they are outdated. So, hopefully we found WTH we are before 70 and make the best out being different. Lady Gaga did!! lol
Note:Praise the Lord for spelling check although, I know there are still major sentence structure issues.! VIVA ESL!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol
